ATHOL, MA-2005 marks the 125th anniversary of The L.S. Starrett Co. In 1880, Laroy Sunderland Starrett founded the company with one tool-the combination square. Over the years, the manufacturing company has created a line of more than 5,000 products, including precision measuring tools, shop tools, saw blades and metrology equipment.

"Laroy S. Starrett created a business and philosophy that can be best articulated in his own words, ‘I have believed that I could do no greater good than to help create a business that would give people employment and a chance to earn an honest living,'" Douglas A. Starrett, chief executive officer and president of The L.S. Starrett Co. says.

Starrett now employs 2,150 people worldwide and the company's products are sold throughout the United States and in more than 100 countries.
