The new corporate structure consists of three independently operated companies: Smithers Scientific Services, Smithers Quality Assessments and Springborn Smithers Laboratories.

Smithers Scientific Services is a testing, research and consulting firm for the tire, rubber, plastics, chemical and automotive industries. It is based in Akron.

Smithers Quality Assessments, which is also based in Akron, provides certification services for ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.

Springborn Smithers Laboratories offers research and regulatory compliance services for the pharmaceutical, agrochemical and chemical industries. Its U.S. operations are in Wareham, MA, and its European operations are in Horn, Switzerland.
