UNITED STATES-General Motorsis giving the public a glimpse into the company's inner workings though a series of factory tours. Each of the 54 GM manufacturing facilities in the United States are set to host open-house events in order to give everyone a better idea of what goes on in the newly-public automaker's plants. Each of the facilities will choose a date for their respective event and invite their local community inside by the end of 2011.

Each location will pick a date for their facility and invite the community to attend as a way to show the importance of partnerships to the company's success.

Since July 2009, GM has invested more than $3 billion in the United States and created or retained more than 7,900 jobs in 21 plant communities.

Although GM's Bowling Green assembly plant in Kentucky is the only facility with a regularly scheduled tour program, GM locations across the country accommodate as many tour requests as possible from the community, the media and school groups. Many UAW and GM employees volunteer to go into local classrooms to discuss the importance of manufacturing to the U.S. economy and the value of a strong math and science education.
