Ukraine and Turkey have signed an agreement to create a strategic high-level council. A joint declaration on creation of this council was signed by Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and Turkey's Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
After a series of talks, the two countries declared the need for a program to cooperate in the areas of technical regulation, standardization, metrology, assessment of conformance and protection of consumer rights in 2011 and 2012.
The strategic council will devise proposals to the strategy and the basic lines of relations between the two countries, coordinate implementation of projects for cooperation in political, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian areas.
The President of Ukraine will head the commission from the Ukrainian part, the Prime Minister of Turkey from the Turkish part.
