PRINCETON JUNCTION, NJ - Mistras Group Inc. announces the receiving of the Chevron Safety Award to the newly acquired Pacific Technical Services (PTS) in Torrance, CA.
The award was presented based on work performed in 2009 by NDT inspectors from the Torrance lab of Mistras Services. The Mistras team obtained an Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recordable rating of zero while doing contracted work at Chevron Richmond in California.
The Chevron Safety award is given out to companies who work incident free, have no lost time and no recordable injuries while contracted with one of the Chevron refineries. Weekly safety audits and quarterly safety meetings are used to evaluate employees throughout the year to determine if the company qualifies for the award.
"Mistras is fortunate to have people in our organization that are dedicated to performing work safely, which is clearly exhibited by the recognition earned by the Mistras employees at the Chevron Richmond Refinery," says Chris Smith, group corporate compliance officer for Mistras." Further, I think it is important to note that this recognition can largely be attributed to the PTS culture and that when Mistras management is considering acquisition opportunities we are looking for organizations with a strong safety culture and similar values."
PTS was acquired by Mistras Services in July of 2009 as an inspection contractor that provides quality control and quality assurance services to the petrochemical, process, power generation, construction and manufacturing industries.
