U.S. House vote is a step toward closing the skills gap.

The Coordinate Metrology Society launched the first Level-One Certification for 3D portable measurement professionals five years ago. Since that time, the organization has consistently rolled out additional assessments to support the industry. 

Metrology is the science of measurement and these skills are vital across all major growth sectors of the global economies, enabling innovation, jobs, and industry sustainability.

As technology has marched forward, advanced manufacturing organizations have wrestled with how to fill jobs with competent workers. 

Ask a quality engineer how they were introduced to metrology or inspection, and they’ll often answer that it wasn’t during their coursework, but in the field. It reflects the manufacturing world’s problem with visibility and messaging, and an important insight into why the term “skills gap” has been a buzzword for several years.

Lee will lead the Institute’s focus on programming to address workforce development, skills certification and veteran training and hiring.
