Photodiode

Opto Diode introduced the 20 mm2 photodiode with a circular active area that is ideal for electron detection. The new device offers 100% internal quantum efficiency (QE) and increased stability. The absence of a surface dead region results in 100% collection efficiency. The radiation-hard, junction-passivating, oxynitride protective entrance window makes the device extremely stable even after exposure to intense flux of UV photons (showing less than 2 percent responsivity degradation after megajoules/cm2 of 254 nm and tens of kilojoules/cm2 of 193 nm photon exposure). The exceptional radiation-hardness makes these diodes much better suited than conventional silicon photodiodes for space missions and/or satellite applications.

The new device features a rise time of 1.7 µsec (typical), a minimum rise time of   0.8 µsec, and a maximum of 3.3 µsec. The shunt resistance is 200 MOhms (typical), 50 MOhms (minimum), and the typical capacitance is 4 nanofarads (nF), maximum is 10 nF. Housed in a TO-8 package, the UVG20C offers peak responsivity of 800nm at approx. 0.56 A/W.

Opto Diode’s UVG20C absolute devices’ thermal parameters offer storage temperatures ranging from -20 degrees C to 100 degrees C; operating temperatures range from -20 degrees C to 80 degrees C. The maximum junction temperature is 100 degrees C and the lead soldering temperature (1/16 inches from the case for 10 seconds) is 240 degrees C.

Frame Grabber

Sensoray announced an addition to its extensive line of high quality, broadcast grade, low-latency and real-time video solutions. The Model 810, PCI Express 4-Channel Frame Grabber with Audio Capture, simultaneously captures four channels of analog NTSC/PAL video and four channels of stereo audio.

It captures raw video frames from each channel at up to full frame rate, resulting in an aggregate frame capture rate of up to 120 fps for NTSC and 100 fps for PAL. The high frame capture rate, through a single-lane x1 PCI Express interface, makes it well-suited for applications that require uncompromising capturing of multi-channel video/audio sources in a PCI Express form factor, such as broadcast-grade video/audio capturing, video surveillance, law enforcement, and traffic monitoring.

Four BNC connectors are available on the board’s mounting bracket for connecting external composite video sources. A DB15 connector on the same bracket is used for the audio inputs. A 34-pin header provides an alternative convenient access to all I/O signals on the board.

The unit supports a wide range of video capture resolutions, including D1, VGA, QVGA, QQVGA, SIF, 2SIF, 4SIF, CIF, QCIF, SQCIF and 4CIF. Captured frames are formatted as raw RGB or YUV. However, 3rd party and/or OSS CODEC can be used for compressed video/audio capture.

The audio can be stereo or mono, and the sampling rate supports 32kHz, 44.1kHz, and 48kHz. Embedded data may be added to each frame during the vertical blanking interval (VBI). Since the display is inactive during this interval, it can be used to transmit time codes, closed captioning, teletext, CGMS-A copy-protection indicators, and various data encoded by the XDS protocol.

Camera

Photron, Inc. introduced the small, lightweight FASTCAM Mini UX100 high speed camera. The new, one-piece high speed imager provides 1,280 x 1,024 pixel resolution to 4,000 frames per second (fps), 720 high-definition (HD) resolution (1,280 x 720 pixels) to 6,400 fps, and reduced resolution operation up to 800,000 frames per second. The global electronic shutter operates down to 1 microsecond to provide blur free, B&W imagery with 12-bit pixel depth (36-bits for the color version). Light sensitivity is ISO 12232 Ssat certified at 8,000 ISO 12-bit monochrome; 4,000 ISO for the 36-bit color version.

Photron’s new camera offers powerful high speed imaging performance in a compact 120 mm x 120 mm x 90 mm package, weighing only 1.5 Kg. Available with three onboard memory options up to 16 gigabytes, the compact camera is ideal for a wide variety of applications, including sports, broadcasting, life sciences, biomechanics, off-board automotive imaging, fluidics, and ballistics testing.

Camera

Fluke Corporation introduced the Fluke® Ti200, Ti300 and Ti400 infrared cameras with advanced connectivity and accuracy to maximize technicians’ productivity in the field. The new infrared cameras feature LaserSharp Auto Focus, which uses a laser to pinpoint exactly where the camera should focus for precisely focused images every time.

The rugged Fluke Ti200, Ti300 and Ti400 connect to the Fluke CNX™ Wireless system, allowing them to be used as a main unit to view live measurements of up to five wireless modules (e.g. AC current or voltage modules) on its screen and integrate the data into the infrared image.

The infrared cameras feature wireless connectivity to easily transfer images from the cameras directly to PCs, an iPad or iPhone which can then be imported into Fluke SmartView® software, a professional suite of analysis and reporting tools for optimizing and analyzing infrared images and producing professional reports.
