TOPSFIELD, MA — ECM Vice President of Operations Ray Ryan will present a paper at the 2015 SA User Conference titled “Evolutionary Approach to Automation.”

This year’s conference will be held at the Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Virginia from April 21-23, 2015.

This educational conference is for novice and experienced users alike.

ECM is a user of SpatialAnalyzer software from New River Kinematics.

SpatialAnalyzer software offers a series of approaches to automating measurement and alignment tasks. ECM utilizes these software features on a daily basis when providing customers with the highest quality scan data for automation, integration and assembly tasks. Automation can be as simple as using existing functions such as “relationships” or creating measurement plans all the way up to converting elaborate MPs with sub-routines into visual basic or C++ software code via the SDK function.

ECM’s presentation at this year’s SA Users Conference will provide examples of increasing levels of complexity of automated measurement and alignment tasks culminating in the use of SA embedded in an automated join work cell for a complete airplane fuselage. Examples will be taken from actual projects with content including SA images, hardware photos, and assembly videos. The ultimate intent of ECM’s presentation is to demonstrate that “automation” in SpatialAnalyzer can start with even the easiest of tasks and mature into highly sophisticated, multi-stage automation.
