Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence announced the release of a System Software Update v1.3 for its Leica Absolute Tracker AT930 and AT960 laser trackers. This upgrade brings advances in usability as well as improvements to automated application functionalities.

Automated applications are increasingly a vital proposition for advanced users, and improvements in this area have been a top priority in this update. New software commands will deliver up to 40 percent faster process speeds using reflectors and 6DoF probes such as the Leica T-Scan or Leica T-Mac. This will enable shorter times that are crucial in automated inspection, whether for close to production, in-line or metrology-assisted assembly use cases.

Hard Shock data handling is among the key new introductions with this update. Those making full use of the portability of their Leica Absolute Tracker will be notified when system accuracy checks are required following the unforeseen impacts that commonly occur in transit.

The update also delivers important PowerLock advances. With the new intelligent autoexposure feature, the tracker will automatically recognize ambient lighting conditions and adapt settings accordingly without user input. This function will ensure high PowerLock performance, even in extremely bright outdoor environments.

In a further improvement for automated inspection, the use of “Measure All You Can See” software functions is now a simple, single button process. A typical setup with five targets that would previously have taken up to 25 seconds with repeated targeting and measurements will now take as little as 5 seconds. This allows users to simply set up their tracker in front of a prepared object and produce a full line-of-sight measurement almost immediately.

Every newly-purchased Leica Absolute Tracker AT930 and AT960 will now ship with System Software Update v1.3 already installed. Customers with existing systems will also be able to receive the upgrade through their system’s built-in software update manager.
