AURORA, OH — Godfrey & Wing passed its transition audit for ISO 9001:2015/IATF 16949 certification from Smithers Quality Assessments (SQA), an accredited third party registrar.

The IATF 16949:2016 certification is the recently published revision to ISO/TS 16949: 2009, one of the most widely used international standards in the automotive industry. The standard acts as a supplement to ISO 9001: 2015 for automotive quality management systems.

This certification is the highest international quality standard for the automotive industry. It is aimed at the development of a quality management system that provides continual improvement, defect prevention, and the reduction of variation and waste in the supply chain. The certification ensures Godfrey & Wing’s products and services repeatedly meet the automotive industry’s exacting specifications.

“Not only is IATF 16949:2016 a quality management system requirement to be considered as part of an automotive OEM supply chain, it demonstrates Godfrey & Wing’s commitment to quality and continual improvement," said Han Sim, corporate quality manager, Godfrey & Wing.

As the demand for higher mileage increases, the use of vacuum impregnation in the automotive industry is growing rapidly. Engineers are turning to the process to meet ever-more challenging weight, quality and performance standards.
