St. Paul Foundry has been awarded certification to AS9100 Rev D by Orion Registrar, Inc. AS9100D is a comprehensive quality management system (QMS) certification that qualifies St. Paul Foundry to supply cast components for advanced military and aerospace applications.
St. Paul Foundry is a 150-year-old manufacturer of brass, bronze and aluminum cast components located in St. Paul, Minnesota. According to David Hartigan, Quality Manager for St. Paul Foundry, "Certification to AS9100 reflects St. Paul Foundry's commitment to the highest quality standards and strengthens our competitive position. St. Paul Foundry has always been devoted to quality management and this certification reflects our continuous efforts to improve our systems and exceed our customers' expectations. It was an 18-month project, but the transition from ISO 9001 to AS9100 was made easier by St. Paul Foundry's knowledge and history of quality management and the process approach."
St. Paul Foundry began the transition from ISO 9001 to AS9100D in early 2017. 18 months of writing, rewriting, and internal audits followed. Orion Registrar, Inc. conducted three external audits during autumn of 2018. The most grueling was a four-day audit of all aspects of the quality management system and operations in November. At that point certification recommendation was made to ANAB (ANSI National Accreditation Board). ANAB conducted an in-depth review of the audit, QMS, and St. Paul Foundry before awarding certification. Registration to AS9100D automatically certifies the company to ISO 9001:2015.
