Matthew Ilardo is an engineer with Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) and is responsible for alignment and surveying for the entire BNL facility including the advanced partial accelerators. He is involved with training, support and purchasing of metrology equipment and software for the Survey and Alignment group. Over the years, Ilardo has volunteered on the CMS Certification and the Measurement/Education Zone Committee’s. He led the committee for the Level II Laser Tracker Certification Exam, and is currently the chair coordinating the Measurement/Education Zone for the 2016 CMSC.
Since 1996, Ilardo has been involved in the engineering and surveying industry spending the past decade in the field of metrology. He graduated from Wentworth Institute in Boston, MA with a BS in civil engineering, and an AS in architecture.
Working at BNL, he is leading the Survey and Alignment Group, he is specifically responsible for alignment, pre-survey analysis, data post processing, R&D of metrology instrumentation and techniques as well as personnel support, training and management. Ilardo is also is a certified trainer in surveying, mapping and scanning.
