Air gauges are non-contact devices that utilize air pressure for measurement. They play a crucial role in ensuring precision and quality control in the manufacturing industry, from automotive to aerospace industries. They are particularly valuable for measuring delicate or easily deformable materials.

Cylindrical ring gages have a number of inspection purposes. They are used as Go/No-Go gages to inspect the outside diameter of a shaft or rod. They are masters for dial bore gages, internal micrometers and coordinate measuring machines (CMMs). 

The previous two columns dealt with a study of thread plug gage calibration, the results of which will be discussed and/or argued over for some time.

A highly common application for gages is inspecting threaded holes and shafts.

While most metrology markets are extremely challenged by the sluggish economy, the global gages market remains relatively well-positioned primarily due to its cost-effectiveness.
