Effective communication only happens when the intended message is expressed successfully by one person and received and understood by another. If executed correctly, it cuts down the unintended consequences that arise as a result of miscommunication. 

If anyone has been in quality for some time, they have probably encountered managers who have painful connections to quality. It is likely that some managers would describe their experience as overwhelmingly negative. Some of these people extend these feeling into anything having to do with quality.

In a classic Dilbert cartoon, the “client” proudly claims to Dogbert the consultant that “every three months, an existing customer acquires another product.” Dogbert replies, “what if you don’t count warranty replacements?”

Fast, reliable error-proofing is essential to ensuring consistent throughput without sacrificing quality. Manual quality inspections are often tedious and prone to error, and complicated vision systems can be expensive and time-consuming to implement.

It’s not enough to know all there is about quality. It’s our job to educate management and never permit them to make an uninformed decision.

It’s been said that the human body is a marvel, the greatest machine ever designed. It’s not hard to find confirmation of that statement in the other machines man has designed and built.
