ROCKFORD — The Dupps Company of Germantown, Ohio was recently named the winner of the 2015 Rusty Demeules Award for Safety Excellence.
The award is presented by the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, International, sponsored by CNA Insurance Companies, and created by FMA’s Safety Council to recognize a company with a demonstrated safety culture. It is named in honor of Demeules, a significant volunteer contributor to FMA, who was president of the FMA Safety Committee from its inception in 1989 until 1996.
The Dupps Company is celebrating their 80th year as a family run business and currently employ 143. They design, build and install high-quality process equipment and systems. They are the world’s largest manufacturer of rendering equipment used to recycle animal protein by-products.
The Dupps Company’s significant achievements in the area of safety include no lost time injuries in their heavy industrial manufacturing facility in over eight years. Each year there is a contest among the employees to come up with the upcoming year’s safety slogan. This year the winning slogan was, “With Nine on the line, keep SAFETY in mind.”
The Dupps Company will be honored at a dinner ceremony during FMA’s Annual Safety Conference to be held April 22-23 at Crowne Plaza Minneapolis West in Plymouth, Minn. As the recipient, a representative of the company receives complimentary registration, travel, and hotel accommodations at the conference.
“FMA is honored to present the Rusty Demeules Safety Award to The Dupps Company,” said Edward Youdell, president and CEO of FMA. “The Dupps Company’s excellence in the area of safety was reflected in their application and they were a great choice by the judging committee. I congratulate them on winning this year’s award.”
